Artist Spotlight: Erika Nelson

Part of an ongoing exploration of the carnival, Erika Nelson will adapt Dr. Doolittle’s Pushme-Pullyou into a half-donkey, half-elephant on the 2020 DTour. Erika is an independent artist and educator, examining contemporary art in the public realm. While living in a vehicle for two years, she explored the nooks and crannies of the U.S. seeking out the odd and unusual, gathering stories of people building roadside vernacular architecture known as World’s Largest Things. She developed her own traveling roadside attraction featuring The World’s Largest Collection of the World’s Smallest Versions of the World’s Largest Things.

Her artwork manifests in a series of innovative, engaging public projects that incorporate Art into the Everyman’s everyday experience. Follow her @worldslargestthings. Learn more about Erika Nelson.
