2020 Farm/Art DTOUR

In 2020 Wormfarm safely launched outdoor and online projects that highlighted the arts and agriculture across the rural-urban continuum. Energized by the national spotlight on Sauk County, WI leading up to the election, and driven by increased urgency to support local artists and collaborators during the pandemic, we tailored the different aspects of the Farm/Art DTour to address the interconnected aspects of community health: civic, cultural, environmental, human, animal, economic.

Now a biennial, the 8th Farm/Art DTour featured 14 site-responsive artworks hosted by local landowners, roadside poetry, a GPS-linked Soundscape, educational Field Notes, pasture performances, Farm Forms and the art of what farmers do every day. Land and business owners along the route welcomed and benefited from this 10-day celebration of food, farming and the land upon which we all depend. For thousands of years, farmers in cultures around the world have interwoven dance, music, and art through rituals of planting and the harvest. Through a contemporary approach and within this timeless context, we continue the tradition.

Last year, 18,000 visitors from rural and urban areas traveled this 50-mile agri/cultural excursion through the scenic working farmlands between Plain and Sauk City, WI. We look forward to welcoming thousands back next year for the 2022 DTour!
